Our Programs

In a very culturally-sensitive and customary setting like Sierra Leone, we have been working to ensure our programs first get the level of acceptance despite the growing discrimination and societal marginalization we face as sex workers on a daily basis. It has not been easy since we started in October 2014 but the simple fact ramains that we are not alone. You are just that right partner to help us reach our dream of having dignified lives of sex workers and LGBTIs in Sierra Leone.

Our programs have been largely successful using:

Outreach and Education

WAPT provides safer sex materials, syringe access, counseling, and support to street-based workers and more importantly suggesting alternative livelihood means for children under age 18 by getting them off the streets by taking them to places of education and learning.

Peer Education

We train former or current sex workers to educate their peers on safety and HIV.  Our Peer Educators extend WAPT programs into areas traditional health programs can’t reach. We have also partnered with like-minded institutions that provide vocational and other professional skills just to that our colleagues that have no alternative can have a place in society.

Community Education and Awareness

WAPT trains medical and social service providers to appropriately address the needs of sex workers and address MSM and barriers sex workers face in accessing services.
